Remove dust or dirt

The first thing you should do is clean the port as best you can. There is a chance that the problem with the power connector is related to dust or dirt inside the connector.

Compressed air can be purchased at any electronics or office supply store near you. Use the straw to shoot air into the charging port in 1 to 2 seconds.

If there is noticeable lint in the port, you can use a toothpick with some cotton on the end to wipe it off.

Check the connector
